Helping small tour operators and niche agents with travel ecommerce

Anne is great

What about licening and financial insurances for the first 2/3 years of operating??

HI, as I am explaining on my profil, I am researching for all specific things I have to think of when setting up a small tour operator.
I appreciated a lot Dee Edwards check list but I am still a wondering how I can menage to get all relevant licensing and so on, as I am not allowed to join associations as AITO or TOPP forthe first years of operating.

Do you have any ideas?

I am also stucked with google as I have to calculate ALL costs coming up for the first years, but I don't know how to calculate the google costs. Do you have any ideas? ...The best would be a small tour operator would give me his cashflow sheets ;-)... I know, that's not possible, but what about a little idea how much different things might cost?

OK, I am really looking forward to get some help here and have a successful week!

Anne

For Google you could pay 25-75 GBP per booking?

Key with google advertising is not to be selling something at low profit margin vs a high profit margin item that advertises on the same keywords. E.g. You can't sel a guide book to Turkey alongside a hotel in turkey (as more margin on hotel in turkey)!

With Google, take into account cash flow - if you put it on your card - you can take credit on your credit card - but often you can't access the booking money until after the trip (if that is how you bond, eg. with Travel Trust Association).

Anne you have a lot of issues to deal with and costs can vary enormously. The main trick with google is to be very very specific. Get yourself clued up on SEO and adwords before you start and watch it every day. If you put broad terms into your ads you will get hammered for costs and if it is a highly competitive field the costs are insane. Try All inclusive holiday as a term and it will cost you hundreds a day.
The thing to remember is that customers are fickle and lazy when it comes to searching. It is just window shopping for them but when it comes to buying they drill right into the heart of things before buying any product. .. don't we all?
Be specific - cap your budget and refine your keywords.
That advice has cost me thousands!
